St Thomas a Becket

EdTech Club

Mrs Watson runs EdTech clubs in KS1 and KS2. The children learn to use iPad apps for learning and how use the internet safely.

KS1 children (infants) learn computer coding with an iPad app called Scratch Junior.  If you would like to download this app for your child to use at home use the link here: Scratch Jnr App

KS2 children (juniors) learn computer coding using the more advanced version of the Scratch programme which is web based.  You can access this website from home by going to : Scratch Coding Website

The children also learn about blogging and safe internet use through our school blog. Please visit http://stthomasabecketschool.primaryblogger.co.uk/ to see our school blog.  Pupils share examples of their work via the blog and parents may like to look on there with their children and talk about the work they see.  We encourage all our pupils to write positive comments about what they see on the school blog.  The blog helps pupils to understand the benefits and responsibilities that come with sharing and commenting online.

Mrs Watson (our EdTech teacher) uses many apps on our school iPads to support the teaching and understanding of Literacy & Numeracy across the school.  There are lists of recommended apps for both KS1 & KS2 in the Parents & Friends section of our website.
